Senior Hurling Championship Round 1
Na Piarsaigh 2-16
Doon 1-19
Doon scored 5 unanswered points to kick off the first round of the championship, with us taking all of 9 minutes before James Finn slotted our opening score. We found our feet though and Downesy slotted a handful of frees including 1 from play along with a point each from Keith Dempsey and Dylan Lynch. The Dow would blast a penalty off the post, following Adrian being dragged down in the area around the 25 minute mark. We made no mistake with our next goal chance a few minutes later with Keith darting one past the Doon keeper. The first half ended all square at 1-07 to 10 points.
Doon were quick out of the blocks again in the second half and forced a brilliant save out of the Dow, for him to deflect an almost certain goal over the bar. JJ got a neat point directly from the puck out. Doon did find the net not long after when Adam English went for goal from a 21 yard free. It was point for point for the next while before Will Henn brought some good energy off the bench around the 42 minute mark. He would end the game with 2 points and also set up Keith for his second of the day. Great impact. Downesy grabbed our second goal inside 48 minutes with JJ floating a lovely ball over the heads of the Doon backs for Adrian to field. He found Kev at the edge of the square, for the Coonagh man to sweep to the net. Ronan landed our last score on 53 minutes to put us 3 ahead. The game would finish level after 4 minutes of added time.
We’ll play Ballybrown in round 2 of the championship next Friday evening in Claughaun. Ballybrown had a big win over Ahane in their round 1 tie played last Saturday afternoon.

Intermediate Hurling Championship Round 1
Na Piarsaigh 0-20
Feohanagh Castlemahon 2-14
A draw that certainly felt like a loss on Sunday afternoon in Croagh. We had a firm grip on the game in the second half but for Feohanagh Castlemahon to claw their way back into it. Goals in either half for our West Limerick opponents, where we saw little opportunity to raise the green flag at the other end. Still, it’s a point on the board and plenty of positives to take into next weekend.
Man of the match Mark O’Connor gave a stellar display at full back while Wayne Kearns was excellent at midfield. Alan Dempsey scored 4 from centre forward while Eoin Brosnan showed great promise at wing back, driving over a point of his own in the opening half.
Round 2 of the intermediate championship pits us against St. Kieran’s next Sunday in Askeaton at 2pm.
Team: Evan Condon, Conor Richardson, Mark O'Connor, Padraig Heaney, John O’Keeffe, Sean Long, Eoin Brosnan(0-01), Gordon Brown(0-01), Wayne Kearns, Kevin Daly(0-01), Alan Dempsey(0-04), Pa O’Neill(0-07, 0-06f), Marcus Hogan(0-01), Evan Sweeney(0-02), Mark Hogan(0-01).

Junior C Hurling Championship Round 1
Na Piarsaigh 3-12
Ballybrown 3-08
Our Junior C hurlers got their championship off to a winning start following a 4-point win over Ballybrown in Páirc Uí Dromgúil on Friday evening last. A brilliant team display from a group with a great mix of youth and experience. John Leahy found the net for our only goal of the opening half following a great layoff from Ben O’Regan. Gordon Leonard landed our second goal with a long ball deceiving the keeper and ending up in the back of the net. Eddie O’Neill scored the goal of the weekend following a pass across the 14 from John Leahy for Ed to double on it first time. A great finish.
Notable performances from our 2 corner backs Thomas Fitzgerald and Adam Jordan, along with captain Leon Power at wing forward. Joseph Corcoran chipped in with 2 lovely points in the first half also. We’re down to play Kilteely Dromkeen in Round 2 of the championship although this may change.
