Division 1 Hurling League Round 1

Na Piarsaigh 1-20
Adare 1-12

An 8-point win for our senior hurlers in the opening round of Division 1 against Adare on Sunday afternoon in Páirc Uí Dromgúil. A youthful Na Piarsaigh team took to the field in what was a debut appearance for David O’Keeffe for our senior hurler. The Ferndale man came away with 2 points to his name along with shipping a handful of hefty challenges. Both will certainly stand to him. Adam Fitzsimons was assured at wing back while Wayne Kearns chipped in with 4 points, 2 of those from play. Mark O’Connor was rock solid at full back, well supported by Ronan Benson and Gordon Brown, the latter getting up for a point in the second half. James Finn was given a reprieve from Limerick duty for the weekend to slot in at centre back, showing his class at numerous moments throughout the hour. While the opening half was point for point for the majority, we threatened to pull away just before the break with Adrian Breen brilliantly finishing to the net. Adare found their way back into the tie after the resumption following a goal from a quickly-taken 21-yard free. A lapse in concentration from our lads but we recovered. Kevin Downes was introduced to register 3 points, two of those from play. And Ronan Lynch, fresh off his recent Cheltenham success, came on to land a monster free from his own 45. We closed out the game strongly to leave 8 between the sides. Monaleen will provide the opposition in round 2 next weekend. Details of that fixture will be confirmed in the coming days.

Division 4 Hurling League Round 1

Na Piarsaigh 2-21
Mungret 0-07

Our intermediate hurlers got off a flyer in the league following a comprehensive win at home to Mungret on Sunday afternoon. Evan Sweeney and Ger O’Tiarnaigh put the contest to bed inside the opening half, both registering goals, with Ger placing his shot in the top corner of our opponents net. Christy O’Hagan and Sean Long excelled at the back while Evan Gilvarry put in a solid display at midfield. Each of our 6 forwards got on the scoresheet with Jim Beary landing 3 from play on his return from a 12-month sabbatical. Jack McCarthy and Paul McDonagh were both dangerous in the half forward line while Josh Sheehan, having only raised the single white flag, showed brilliant workrate for the hour and made life difficult for the Mungret backs. Round 2 sees us make the trip out to Pallasgreen next weekend but we’ll await a confirmed fixture in the coming days.

Run Club Info Night - Tuesday 24th

The Healthy Clubs Committee would like to invite you to join our Run Club in preparation for this year’s Great Limerick Run.

We will host an information evening on Tuesday, 24th March in the clubhouse at 7:30pm. This will be a great opportunity to meet others from the club who are taking part in the run and to chat about training and preparation.

Two experienced runners will also be there on the night to share advice on training plans, race preparation, and to answer any questions you may have.

The group is open to everyone in the local community, not just club members, so please bring along family and friends. All levels are very welcome.

Our aim is to build a supportive group within the Na Piarsaigh community, making the journey to the Great Limerick Run more enjoyable. Race day t-shirts will be provided to wear on race day, helping us represent Na Piarsaigh together.

Please note this is a Healthy Clubs Initiative and not a fundraising event.

We hope to see you there!

This is an adult only/over 18's event.
